Chapter 1147: A Bloody Battle Inside a building, Dean pressed the remote detonator in his hand, sending nearly twenty enemy soldiers to their deaths. “Die, you black lackeys!” After detonating the first batch, Dean triggered the remote-controlled bombs he had previously prepared in other suitable areas where the enemy had entered. In truth, Dean and the other fighters didn’t carry many remote-controlled bombs or other weapons, but by combining various explosives obtained from enemy corpses and captured ordnance after capturing the town earlier, they had created a chain of bombs with immense destructive power. Having successfully triggered the bombs first, Dean and his fighters capitalized on this advantageous situation to launch a fierce assault against the Genesis Organization’s Black armed forces. Charging to the corner of a building, Dean raised his A1 assault rifle and fired short bursts at three assault infantrymen. Three bursts of bullets struck the heads of the three Genesis Organization assault infantrymen. Dean and the other soldiers were primarily using A1 rifles fitted with suppressors, and by employing guerrilla tactics, they held a significant individual combat advantage over their opponents. Under these circumstances, the priority was to eliminate Genesis’s heavy equipment and elite units. Sniper Van Neut used his Barrett heavy sniper rifle to specifically target and eliminate Genesis forces’ power-armored soldiers. When firing, he specifically aimed for the head armor of the power-armored soldiers. As he pulled the trigger, the high-penetration heavy sniper rounds pierced through the head armor and into the skulls of the power-armored soldiers. “Stay calm, Newt!” Amid the fierce battle, Newt carefully fired each round to ensure it struck its target, silently urging himself to remain composed as he eliminated the enemy. The Genesis Organization’s forces also launched a fierce counterattack. After being initially suppressed, they immediately capitalized on their heavy firepower and numerical superiority to strike back. Assault infantry and power-armored soldiers launched a fierce assault with automatic rifles, grenades, rocket launchers, machine guns, and various advanced tactical weapons. However, the most formidable threat was the Minotaur anti-gravity tank. With their overwhelming firepower, these heavily armored units forced even S. H. I. E. L. D.’ s elite warriors to remain hidden. Destroying this heavy equipment was of the utmost importance. Many buildings and ruins in the town were rigged with remote-controlled explosive devices; as soon as the Minotaur anti-gravity tanks and other Genesis Organization forces entered the area, these bombs were detonated. The Minotaur anti-gravity hover tanks were destroyed one after another. Captain Fuller and weapons expert Wylen each shouldered a rocket launcher equipped with anti-tank missiles. From the side of the building where they were positioned, a Bison anti-gravity tank equipped with a missile turret approached with a clanking mechanical sound. “Fire!” The two pulled the triggers, and two anti-tank missiles struck the Bull anti-gravity tank. The front armor was torn apart, and the cockpit inside was blown to pieces. After this Bison anti-gravity tank was destroyed, another Bison rolled up behind it. This one’s turret was equipped with a 105mm main gun. “There’s another one.” Fuller led Wylen to quickly move out of the way. The two men discarded their anti-tank rocket launchers—after all, many of these captured Genesis Organization weapons had been pre-positioned at various ammunition depots. “I’ll use that to take it out.” Wylen pulled out the remote control unit he carried with him and operated a Genesis anti-aircraft missile launcher they had previously captured. He locked onto the tank and pressed the button. Four anti-aircraft missiles streaked toward the Bison antigravity tank. “BOOM!” A series of violent explosions erupted as the Bison anti-gravity tank was struck by the four anti-aircraft missiles and blew up violently. Although they were anti-aircraft missiles, they still possessed tremendous destructive power. The Bison anti-gravity hover tank was destroyed as well. A few remaining Genesis assault infantrymen who had been following behind screamed and scattered amid the smoke of the explosion. Seizing the opportunity, Captain Fuller and Wylen used their A1 automatic rifles to pick them off with bursts of fire. The small town descended into an incredibly fierce bloodbath, with S. H. I. E. L. D. special forces soldiers fully utilizing guerrilla tactics, employing street fighting and pre-set traps to strike at the enemy. Dean darted swiftly through the intense fighting, using guerrilla tactics and street combat to inflict heavy casualties on Genesis’s forces. In addition to the explosive devices, numerous disguised firing positions also played a significant role in confusing and tying down the enemy. Before the battle began, the operatives had taken advantage of some of the Genesis Organization’s captured firearms, combining them with barbed wire and remote-control devices to set them up near the windows of dilapidated buildings. Now, with the push of a button, they could create the illusion of someone firing rapidly from within. During the Genesis Organization’s offensive, the soldiers essentially adopted a “stirring the grass to scare the snake” strategy: whenever they detected gunfire from a building, they would unleash a barrage of heavy fire. The lead Bull anti-gravity tank was equipped with a 130mm howitzer, making it ideal for shelling the disguised firing positions inside those buildings. Dean, Justin Leighton from First Squad, and two other soldiers from Second Squad—four men in total—were in the area to eliminate these enemies. “Leighton, we have to take out that Bull with the howitzer.” Dean studied the Bull anti-gravity tank repeatedly, confirming it was the greatest threat. Dean picked up a Genesis Corps rocket launcher from the designated ammunition point and instructed Leyton and the other two soldiers, “Cover me.” “You should let me go,” Leighton said, raising his A1 rifle as he and the other two provided cover for Dean. They fired several smoke grenades in rapid succession toward the Genesis Corps using their grenade launchers. Dean took advantage of the confusion caused by the decoy fire and the smoke to approach the Bison Antigravity Tank. He even got within twenty meters of it. The Bison anti-gravity tank spotted him, lowered its turret-mounted howitzer, and swiveled to fire at him. But Dean fired a lethal anti-tank missile first. A series of violent explosions followed, and the Bison anti-gravity tank was reduced to wreckage. Dean quickly tossed aside his rocket launcher and drew the two 5mm submachine guns from his back, dual-wielding them. He took cover behind the wreckage of the Bison tank, preparing to engage the other enemy infantry. Amidst the smoke and gunpowder fumes, three Genesis assault infantrymen charged toward Dean from his left. But they were met with a barrage of fire from the two 5 submachine guns. The three enemies were struck, convulsed briefly, and collapsed to the ground. A burst of assault rifle fire then came from the left. Dean quickly ducked behind the tank wreckage, dodging the bullets. Several more Genesis Organization assault infantrymen attempted to encircle him, but Dean sent them all to their graves with his Type 5. "Click-click." The magazine of one of the M5s ran dry, and Dean tossed it aside. He continued to mow down the enemy with the remaining M5 submachine gun. Just then, a Genesis Organization power-armored soldier armed with a plasma machine gun led several assault infantrymen in an attack. Dean crouched down and lobbed two high-explosive grenades from a low position. After two thunderous explosions, the enemies lay dead on the ground.
