Marvel Riders

Chapter 751: Research “After such a bloody battle, it would be strange if it weren’t like this.” That was Fang Leng’s best assessment of this base. This once-powerful base deep within the island was now little more than a ruin. Yet, even amidst the ruins, one could still occasionally discover things that piqued one’s interest. After all, this base had been of immense importance to Pioneer Technology. Surprisingly, many advanced devices and technologies could still be unearthed from the ruins of the various structures. Though the ruins here might seem tedious after prolonged viewing, Fang Leng was willing to continue his search—there were bound to be more surprising discoveries within Pioneer Technology’s base. Fang Leng would even go so far as to say that the chances of finding valuable discoveries here were higher than those of an explorer searching through ancient ruins. After another three hours of searching, Fang Leng had made some notable discoveries within the base, though most of the technological equipment was severely damaged. After this period of exploration, Fang Leng turned his attention back to the collapsed section of the base. This massive secret base was comparable in scale to a city of 300,000 people, with a large sunken area in its central region. This collapse was caused by none other than the destruction wrought when Murdoch’s Hercules mech emerged from beneath the base upon activation. As a result, a vast sunken area hundreds of meters in diameter now lay at the base’s center. The collapsed area was in complete disarray, but as Fang Leng looked at it, he felt compelled to press on and investigate further. What if there were some significant discoveries to be made? Leaping into the air, Fang Leng flew to the edge of the sinkhole, which, with its diameter of several hundred meters, appeared rather irregular in shape. Taking a step forward, Fang Leng descended into the pit. The area was littered with rubble; after all, this had once been the storage site for the Hercules mech. When the mech emerged, the ground continued to collapse, leaving debris scattered everywhere. At first glance, the place resembled a massive, collapsed underground cavern. That was Fang Leng’s most immediate impression. After walking downward for a while, Fang Leng found himself venturing deeper and deeper into the rubble. Inside this collapsed area, it resembled a giant warehouse—only the entire structure was underground, and the collapsed debris had left it completely unrecognizable. Within this collapsed area, Fang Leng began his exploration. At first glance, the place seemed chaotic. But as he ventured deeper, Fang Leng discovered that this seemingly disorderly collapsed area actually held some discoveries. Some damaged equipment was found, though unfortunately, most of it was beyond repair and held little research value. Continuing his search, Fang Leng pressed further inward. “Since this was once an underground storage area for a super-powerful mech, there should still be some important technological facilities here for maintenance.” Fang Leng had no intention of giving up on his search. “Hm?” Fang Leng suddenly noticed a rather inconspicuous passage deep within the collapsed area. With this new discovery, Fang Leng immediately approached the passage. The passage had suffered significant damage, with cracks already filling the entrance. In addition to the cracks, the entrance was littered with a large amount of broken debris. Looking at the passage, Fang Leng decided to go down first; there might be some surprising discoveries inside. Fang Leng stepped into the passage and began descending the stairs. He continued down the stairs, descending a depth of over fifty meters. As he continued descending the stairs, Fang Leng eventually entered a room. The room resembled a laboratory, filled with all manner of equipment. Fang Leng’s gaze swept swiftly over the instruments and machinery within the room. Most of these instruments and devices appeared highly advanced, based on Fang Leng’s own experience and knowledge. Among them were specialized energy welding equipment, magnetic power units, and precision nanomaterial fabricators, among other things. However, despite the equipment’s sophistication, Fang Leng felt a tinge of disappointment. He had expected to find even more advanced machinery. “Surely this can’t be all there is?” Fang Leng’s eyes scanned the equipment, yet he refused to give up. Finally, a section of the floor in the center of the room caught Fang Leng’s attention. The walls and floor of the room were made of gray, specially formulated concrete, but in the center of the room lay a square piece of black, specially crafted rock, one meter in length. In fact, rather than a rock, it resembled a specially crafted square metal plate made of a black alloy. Finding this black square metal plate somewhat peculiar, Fang Leng picked it up. Accompanied by the sound of concrete and metal grinding against each other, Fang Leng successfully lifted the black metal plate. Fang Leng then looked inside and saw a special metal box beneath the black metal plate. The metal box was black and about the size of a small computer. “Let’s see what’s inside this thing.” Fang Leng picked up the box, examined it, and decided to open it. The metal box was equipped with a special combination lock, but that was no challenge for Fang Leng. Using the immense strength of both hands, he simply wrenched the metal box open. Although the metal box was made of hard material, it couldn’t withstand Fang Leng’s immense strength, and under his force, it snapped in two. Fang Leng’s eyes darted toward the split metal box. Inside lay a silver disc with a remarkably solid feel. Fang Leng picked up the five-centimeter-wide disc with his right hand. The exquisite silver disc seemed to be made of some special material. It gave Fang Leng a vague, peculiar sensation, as if it contained some extremely important secret. “Since it’s been preserved like this, it’s definitely not an ordinary item. At the very least, it can’t be something worthless,” Fang Leng concluded. This silver metal disc was a mere five centimeters in diameter. And given that it was placed in such a location, could it really be just an inconspicuous object? Clearly not. Fang Leng decided to take this pocket-sized disc with him first and worry about the rest later.
