Advertising notice: KO99 may use Google AdSense and other advertising partners when advertising-supported features are enabled. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies or similar technologies to serve, personalize, measure, and limit advertisements. Your choices depend on location, consent, browser settings, and applicable law.

1. Scope

This Policy applies to information processed by KO99 in connection with accounts, novel browsing and reading, listening features, games, purchases, customer support, author or user-content features, communications, security, fraud prevention, analytics, advertising, and operations. It does not govern third-party services with their own privacy policies.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide

We may collect email address, verification code status, account identifier, nickname, profile image, support requests, reviews, comments, messages, manuscripts, stories, authorship or rights documentation, legal requests, marketing preferences, account-deletion requests, and other information you submit.

2.2 Device and activity information

We may collect IP address, device identifiers, advertising identifiers where permitted, device and browser type, operating system, app version, language, approximate location inferred from IP address, access time, login events, authentication metadata, pages and features used, reading history and progress, search queries, bookmarks, favorites, referring pages, campaign data, crash and diagnostic information, performance records, security events, cookie identifiers, consent status, and interactions with advertisements or promotional content.

2.3 Purchases

We may collect product identifier, amount, currency, order number, transaction date, payment status, processor or app-store identifier, receipt or verification token, entitlements, subscription status, refunds, chargebacks, and fraud-prevention information. KO99 generally does not receive full payment-card numbers processed by an independent provider.

2.4 Information from third parties

We may receive information from Apple, Google Play, Stripe or other payment providers, authentication providers, hosting and content-delivery providers, analytics and crash-reporting services, advertising and attribution providers, anti-fraud providers, customer-support tools, licensors, and public authorities where legally authorized.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to create and manage accounts; authenticate users and devices; deliver novels, chapters, listening features, games, and digital entitlements; preserve progress and preferences; process and verify transactions; provide support; personalize recommendations; measure and improve performance; display, measure, frequency-cap, and protect advertising; obtain and record consent; prevent invalid ad traffic, fraud, abuse, and security incidents; enforce access and intellectual-property rules; communicate with users; comply with law; process privacy and copyright requests; maintain records and backups; and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

4. Legal Bases

Depending on location and activity, we process information to perform a contract; comply with legal obligations; pursue legitimate interests such as security, service improvement, fraud prevention, and non-intrusive analytics; protect vital interests; or based on consent. Where consent is the legal basis, you may withdraw it without affecting prior lawful processing.

5. Cookies, Google AdSense, and Advertising Technologies

5.1 Technologies used

KO99 and service providers may use cookies, local storage, pixels, software development kits, advertising identifiers, IP addresses, browser or device signals, and similar technologies to keep users signed in, protect accounts, remember preferences, measure usage, prevent fraud, deliver advertisements, measure ad performance, limit repeated ads, and understand campaigns.

5.2 Google advertising cookies

Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to KO99 or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads based on visits to KO99 and/or other sites on the Internet. Google may receive information such as cookie or device identifiers, IP address, browser information, approximate location, page URL, referrer, consent signals, and advertisement interactions.

5.3 Personalized and non-personalized advertising

Where permitted and consented, advertisements may be personalized using interests or prior activity. Where consent is unavailable, withdrawn, denied, or legally restricted, KO99 may request non-personalized or limited advertising; such ads may still use contextual information, approximate location, frequency capping, fraud-prevention signals, and limited cookies or storage where permitted.

5.4 Your Google advertising choices

You may manage personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings. Information about Google advertising technologies is available at How Google uses information for advertising. You may also use applicable industry opt-out tools, browser controls, device advertising settings, or KO99’s consent interface.

5.5 Consent management

For visitors in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland, KO99 uses or may use a Google-certified consent management platform integrated with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework when required for personalized advertising. The consent interface may allow you to consent, refuse, or manage purposes and vendors.

More information appears in the Cookie Policy.

6. How We Disclose Information

We may disclose information to vendors supporting hosting, content delivery, email, authentication, payments, app distribution, analytics, advertising, consent management, attribution, crash reporting, support, fraud prevention, security, translation, and professional services. We may disclose transaction and entitlement details to payment providers; limited technical or usage information to integrated content or game providers; and information to authorities or others where required by valid legal process or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, security, or prevent fraud. Information may transfer in a merger, financing, acquisition, restructuring, bankruptcy, asset sale, or business transfer.

7. Sale, Sharing, and Targeted Advertising

KO99 does not sell personal information for monetary compensation in the ordinary meaning of “sell.” Some U.S. privacy laws define “sale,” “sharing,” or “targeted advertising” broadly enough to include disclosure of cookie, device, browsing, or advertisement-interaction data to advertising and analytics partners.

Where applicable, eligible users may opt out through a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” or targeted-advertising control provided by KO99 or Google’s U.S. state privacy message, by sending a request to support@ko99.com, and through a legally recognized browser signal such as Global Privacy Control where required. After an applicable opt-out, advertising may remain contextual or non-personalized.

KO99 does not knowingly sell or share personal information of users under 16 without legally required affirmative authorization.

8. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to maintain accounts and entitlements, provide services, complete transactions, comply with tax and accounting obligations, manage consent and opt-out records, prevent fraud, protect advertising systems, preserve security logs, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, protect intellectual property, and maintain legally appropriate backups. We may delete, de-identify, or anonymize information when no longer required.

9. Account Deletion

You may request deletion through an available in-product feature or by emailing support@ko99.com. We may verify account control. Deletion may revoke tokens, end login access, delete or anonymize directly identifying data, and remove history, preferences, and other account-linked information. Limited records may be retained for law, taxes, accounting, payments, refunds, chargebacks, fraud, security, disputes, intellectual-property protection, and proof of request handling. Deleting an account does not automatically cancel third-party subscriptions.

10. Privacy Choices and Requests

Depending on location, you may have rights to access, know, correct, delete, restrict, object, withdraw consent, obtain portability, opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising, limit certain sensitive-information uses, appeal a refusal, and complain to a regulator. Submit requests to support@ko99.com with subject “Privacy Rights Request.” We may verify identity or account control proportionately. Authorized agents may be required to provide proof of authority.

11. California Notice

To the extent the California Consumer Privacy Act applies, KO99 may collect identifiers; customer-record information; commercial information; Internet or electronic-network activity; approximate geolocation; audio, visual, or similar information; professional information relating to authors or contractors; inferences; and limited sensitive information where applicable. Sources include users, devices, service providers, payment providers, advertising partners, and business partners. Purposes and recipient categories are described above.

California residents may request access, categories, sources, purposes, recipients, specific pieces, deletion, correction, opt-out of sale or sharing, limitation of certain sensitive-information use, and non-discrimination. Where required, KO99 will honor recognized Global Privacy Control signals as an opt-out request for the browser or device sending the signal.

12. Other U.S. States

Residents of states with applicable comprehensive privacy laws may have rights to access, correct, delete, obtain a portable copy, opt out of targeted advertising or certain sales, opt out of certain profiling, and appeal denied requests. Rights vary by state and whether the law applies to KO99. Google’s U.S. state regulations message may communicate an opt-out status to Google for supported states, but KO99 remains responsible for its own compliance and for other partners.

13. EEA, UK, and Switzerland

Where the GDPR, UK GDPR, or Swiss data-protection law applies, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object, portability, withdraw consent, and complain to a supervisory authority. You may object to direct marketing at any time. Where advertising or non-essential storage requires consent, KO99 will seek consent through an appropriate consent platform before activating the relevant purpose or vendor, subject to technical and legal requirements.

KO99 may rely on contractual necessity, legal obligations, legitimate interests, consent, and other lawful bases described in Section 4. International transfers may use adequacy decisions, contractual safeguards, or other lawful mechanisms where required.

14. Canadian Rights

Canadian users may request access and correction, subject to exceptions, and may withdraw consent subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Quebec residents may have additional rights involving de-indexation, automated decision information, and portability where applicable. Complaints may be sent to support@ko99.com.

15. Children’s Privacy

KO99 is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information without legally valid parental consent. If we learn that a child provided information improperly, we will take reasonable steps to delete it and terminate the account. Where age-based advertising restrictions apply, we may limit personalization or request restricted ad treatment.

16. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, which may include encryption in transit, token authentication, access controls, logging, monitoring, anti-fraud systems, secure development, minimization, backups, and incident response. No system is completely secure.

17. International Transfers

KO99 operates from the United States and may use providers in the United States and other countries. Information may be transferred to countries with different laws. Where required, we use contractual, organizational, or technical measures intended to protect information.

18. Automated Processing and Recommendations

We may use automated systems to recommend novels, rank results, organize categories, detect suspicious or invalid traffic, prevent fraud, enforce security rules, determine content access, personalize experience, and select or measure advertisements. These systems may consider reading history, search activity, interactions, account status, entitlements, device data, consent, and security signals. We do not intend to make solely automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects unless disclosed and permitted by law.

19. Marketing Choices

You may unsubscribe from marketing email using the provided method or by contacting us. We may continue sending verification codes, receipts, security notices, account notices, support responses, and legal notices.

20. Third-Party Services

The Services may integrate with app stores, payment processors, analytics, Google AdSense, consent platforms, browser games, social media, Discord, content-delivery networks, and external sites. Third parties may collect information directly and process it under their own policies. KO99 does not control their independent practices.

21. Security Incidents

If we identify an incident involving personal information, we will investigate, take reasonable corrective measures, and provide legally required notices to affected individuals or authorities.

22. Changes

We may update this Policy for changes in services, data practices, advertising, technology, providers, law, or operations. We will update the “Last Updated” date and provide additional notice where required.
