The Domineering Cultivator Farmer

Chapter 1: Finally Out

“Ah… I’m finally out!” A howl like the wailing of ghosts and wolves suddenly rang out from deep within the Shennongjia Mountains. There stood a wild-looking man, dressed in rags, jumping up and down and shouting at the top of his lungs. Six years ago, Fang Yun had just graduated from college and landed a job as a corporate planner. Because he performed so well, his boss gave him a bonus. A lover of adventure travel, Fang Yun took a vacation specifically to explore Shennongjia, but his luck ran out when he encountered a wild wolf. While fleeing, he accidentally fell into a huge crevice and, somehow, found himself inside a cave residence left behind by a cultivator. At first, Fang Yun was overjoyed—so cultivators really did exist! Didn’t that mean he could start cultivating too? But after reading the inscription left in the cave, Fang Yun burst into tears. Damn it, this cave was actually sealed with a restriction—no one below the Nascent Soul stage could ever get out. Although Fang Yun had never practiced cultivation before, in this age of information overload, there was nothing she didn’t know—especially since the “aunties” on a certain website had consistently mentioned in their posts that, due to severe environmental destruction on Earth, the primordial energy of heaven and earth was extremely scarce. Without primordial energy, how could one possibly cultivate? Besides, the cave residence was completely empty—not even a single mouse in sight. He’d starve to death before he even started cultivating. Fortunately, the cave’s former owner had a shred of conscience and left behind cultivation manuals, a few bottles of elixirs, and—most importantly—a ring. The ring contained a spatial pocket measuring one thousand square units, planted with medicinal herbs and featuring a spring in the center. Thinking of his grandmother, his parents, and his girlfriend Feng Xiu’er—whom he’d been dating since college—Fang Yun decided to give it his all. Fang Yun was a prodigy among prodigies. When he was hungry, he’d pop a pill and nibble on some medicinal herbs; when he was thirsty, he’d take a sip of spring water. Relying solely on these elixirs and herbs, he managed to cultivate all the way to the Nascent Soul Stage in just six years and finally emerged into the light of day. Had the cave’s owner seen this speed, he would have begged, tears streaming down his face, to take Fang Yun as a disciple—such a cultivation pace, from ancient times to the present, could only be described as monstrous. Fang Yun didn’t want to stay in this godforsaken place another moment. He activated his body technique and shot out like a flash. In the blink of an eye, a black shadow darted past, and Fang Yun was already a hundred meters away—anyone who saw it would have thought they’d seen a ghost. Once he reached the outskirts of Shennongjia, Fang Yun slowed his pace. He could already make out figures in the distance, and he certainly didn’t want to cause a sensation that would lead to him being captured by the government for dissection and research. In truth, Fang Yun was overthinking it—a cultivator at the Nascent Soul stage was practically invincible on Earth. Poor Fang Yun hadn’t received any guidance from anyone; he was a complete novice when it came to cultivation levels and the like. During his six years in the cave, aside from reaching the Nascent Soul stage, he knew absolutely nothing about using spells or other techniques—just like a bookworm who’d gotten into Peking University or Tsinghua University but only knew how to study by the book. “Sister, look quick! There’s a wild man!!!” A little girl’s shriek suddenly rang out from nearby, nearly scaring Fang Yun senseless. “Where? Another female voice reached Fang Yun’s ears. Fang Yun, who had been walking with his head down, looked up and saw two girls standing not far ahead. One appeared to be in her twenties, while the other looked about seven or eight. Judging by their attire, they were quite well-off—they must have been tourists. “It’s true! So the rumors about wild people in Shennongjia are real. Quick, take a picture!” A flurry of camera shutters—“click, click, click”—immediately rang out. “Yeti?” Fang Yun looked around in all directions. “There’s no one here.” Poor Fang Yun had no idea that people had mistaken him for a Yeti. But Fang Yun didn’t have time to dwell on that. It had been six years—finally, he’d seen people again. Tears welling up in his eyes, he walked toward the girls. “Ah!!!” The younger girl suddenly let out a bloodcurdling scream. “Sister, the Yeren is coming! He’s going to grab Lianlian and take her back to eat her!” “Lianlian, run! I’ll hold him off!” The older sister, who had been happily snapping photos, turned pale at her younger sister’s words. Her camera clattered to the ground as she threw her arms out to shield her sister. “Big sister, I’m not leaving. I want to defeat this savage with you,” the younger sister said, standing stubbornly in place despite trembling all over. “Silly girl,” the older sister said, pulling her younger sister into a tight embrace as they both buried their faces in each other’s arms and wept bitterly. Fang Yun scratched his head. What was going on with these two girls? “Hello, excuse me…” “Ah! Don’t come over here. Go away.” With a whoosh, a purse flew toward Fang Yun. “Uh…” Fang Yun was dumbfounded. “Uh…” The girl who had been crying also froze—weren’t savages supposed to be unable to speak? “You’re not a savage?” “I… I guess not.” Fang Yun was completely taken aback. The older sister rushed right up to Fang Yun and pointed a finger right at his nose. “If you’re not a wild man, then what’s wrong with you dressing like this? Do you think it’s funny to dress up as a wild man? You almost scared us to death.” Fang Yun was frustrated. Although he’d brought a backpack with a change of clothes when he came to Shennongjia for a vacation, he’d thrown it away long ago while being chased by a wild wolf. It was only natural that a single set of clothes would look like this after six years of wear. With no other choice, Fang Yun had to explain to the older sister, “I’m just a tourist here too. I wandered in alone, ran into a wild wolf, and accidentally got lost. It took me nearly a month to find my way out.” Fang Yun certainly didn’t dare tell them he’d been stuck in there for six years. “You poor thing,” the two sisters immediately felt sorry for Fang Yun. After chatting for a while, Fang Yun learned that the older sister’s name was Gao Qian and the younger sister’s was Gao Lian. They lived in Beijing, and their family ran a company—they were quite wealthy. “Fang Yun, you’ve lost all your belongings. Why don’t you come back to the hotel with us first?” Gao Qian said to Fang Yun. “I’m sorry to trouble you.” Now that Fang Yun had nothing with him, his only option was to go with the Gao sisters. Still, he wondered how he could repay them. As for giving them money—not only was he currently penniless, but the two sisters didn’t seem to be the type to be short on cash. However, Lianlian seemed to be having some health issues; perhaps he could take a look at her later that night. The cultivation manual he practiced from included a dedicated section on medicine; after all, cultivators often engage in combat, and injuries are inevitable, so it’s essential to learn at least some medical skills for self-defense. Moreover, for some reason, the owner of the cave residence had collected all kinds of martial arts and medical texts. Under the astonished stares of passersby, Fang Yun and the Gao sisters returned to their hotel in Muyu Town, on the outskirts of Shennongjia. If it hadn’t been for Gao Qian leading the way, the hotel security guard would have almost refused to let Fang Yun in. Gao Qian helped Fang Yun check into a room and said to him, “Go take a shower first; I’ll go buy you some clothes.” Fang Yun replied gratefully, “Thank you so much.” When he came out of the shower, he found a set of casual clothes on the table. He tried them on, and they fit perfectly. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. When Fang Yun opened it, she saw Gao Qian and Lianlian standing outside. “Come on, let’s go get a haircut, then grab a bite to eat.” Gao Qian took Fang Yun out and found a hair salon where they got his hair cut. As soon as Fang Yun’s hair was cut, the girl at the salon’s eyes lit up. Fang Yun was already quite handsome, and since he’d begun his cultivation, he’d developed an inexplicable aura that was very attractive. Gao Qian was quite surprised—she hadn’t expected this wild-looking guy to look so handsome once he was dressed up. “Big brother, you’re so handsome,” Lianlian said, looking at Fang Yun. Then she turned her head and said, “Sister, you’re blushing,” pointing at Gao Qian. “You little brat, what nonsense are you talking about?” Gao Qian, feeling embarrassed, grabbed Lianlian and tickled her. “Hahaha, Lianlian was wrong. I won’t do it again.” “Fang Yun, let’s go. We’ll grab something to eat first.” Gao Qian pulled Lianlian along and led the way out. “Eat slower—no one’s going to抢 it from you.” Gao Qian stared in disbelief at Fang Yun, who was devouring his food like a starving ghost reincarnated. “Mmm, mmm, mmm, this is so good—it’s absolutely delicious,” Fang Yun said, his mouth stuffed full as he nodded and devoured the food with lightning-fast hands. It had been six years since he’d last eaten such fragrant, delicious food; he’d almost forgotten what it tasted like. Fang Yun’s face was covered in drool. Gao Qian hurriedly called the waiter over to order a few more dishes; at this rate, it didn’t look like there’d be enough for Fang Yun alone. Only after he had polished off the entire table full of dishes did Fang Yun reluctantly put down his bowl, exhaling contentedly. Gao Qian stared at Fang Yun in utter disbelief. Was this guy a pig? He sure could eat. Lianlian, on the other hand, looked at Fang Yun with admiration. “Big brother is so amazing—he can really eat! But his belly isn’t even bulging like Dad’s. Where does all that food go?” Fang Yun noticed the astonished looks on the Gao sisters’ faces and suddenly realized what had happened. He rubbed his head awkwardly. There was nothing he could do—he hadn’t had a proper meal in so many years that he simply couldn’t help himself. Now he’d made a fool of himself in front of them. Fang Yun felt his face flush, but then he remembered the even more embarrassing thing that had happened when he first met the two sisters—they’d mistaken him for a wild man. Compared to that, this was just a drop in the bucket. He figured he’d already lost any semblance of dignity in their eyes. Thinking of this, Fang Yun couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
