By a stroke of chance, he came into possession of the Seven Kills Sutra. This sutra is notoriously bloodthirsty; several of its previous inheritors, unable to master the sutra’s innate nature of slaughter, ultimately met their end at their own hands. Qin Yu is a man of justice and chivalry. After obtaining the Seven Kills Sutra, although he intended to right the injustices of the world, he realized that to increase his strength, he would have to rely on killing. It was at this point that the Fire Scorpion Gang came into Qin Yu’s sights. These ruthless thugs, who committed every conceivable evil and killed without batting an eye, became the starting point for Qin Yu’s cultivation of the Seven Kill Sutra. Afterward, he nearly lost his way several times and was nearly consumed by the sutra’s backlash, but Qin Yu persevered through it all. Finally, he fully mastered the Seven Kill Sutra—only to realize that the secrets surrounding it had seemingly only just begun to unfold... ....
Chapter 48: A Coincidence
Qin Yu yawned, and even his stomach began to growl. So, full of resentment, he said to Zhang Xiaofei, “I just don’t get you. It’s just a touch-up, right? Why did you come all this way? And why did you drag me along when you came?” “You still dare to ask? Who chipped my paint, anyway? I’m already doing you a favor by not making you fix it all by yourself. Those 4S stores in downtown Jiangcheng are a total rip-off. They’re nothing like here—not only is it affordable, but you actually get what you pay for…” Zhang Xiaofei explained at length. “It’s not like we don’t have money,” Qin Yu said indifferently. He’d been following Zhang Xiaofei out to the suburbs for most of the day, and the paint still wasn’t finished—no wonder Qin Yu was grumbling a bit. “It’s not about the money. I just don’t want to get ripped off, you know? That’s a matter of principle.” Zhang Xiaofei kept spouting his twisted logic, going on and on. “You’re just a damn cheapskate—and you’re lecturing me on principles?” Qin Yu said irritably. “You just don’t know how to manage your money. There’ll be plenty of places to spend it in the future, I’m telling you.” “Fine, fine, fine. You’re right.” “No, wait, let me tell you…” Zhang Xiaofei was like a machine gun, rattling on and on, giving Qin Yu—who was already in a bad mood—a splitting headache. He thought of Tang Seng from *A Chinese Odyssey*; he felt like Sun Wukong himself, and he was actually starting to feel a little sorry for Sun Wukong. Suddenly, Qin Yu raised an eyebrow and looked into the distance; Zhang Xiaofei followed his gaze in that direction. “Is there anything over there? Besides wasteland,” Qin Yu asked suddenly. Zhang Xiaofei looked at Qin Yu, puzzled, and said, “I don’t think there’s anything there. Oh, right—there are a few abandoned buildings. Construction was halted a few years ago after they’d only finished half the work.” “How much longer will it take to fix the car?” Qin Yu asked again. “It’ll definitely be ready in half an hour.” Hearing Zhang Xiaofei’s reply, Qin Yu walked toward the direction he’d just asked about, then said to Zhang Xiaofei, “It’s kind of boring just sitting around here. I’ll be back in a bit.” Zhang Xiaofei was just about to tell Qin Yu not to wander off—this neighborhood was pretty rough—but on second thought, he kept his mouth shut, thinking to himself that if Qin Yu ran into any thugs, who knows who’d end up being the unlucky one. “Help!” Wang Yuanyuan looked at the two burly men standing in front of her. She’d just been about to run when she was grabbed and pulled back, so her voice trembled as she shouted at the top of her lungs. “Help? In a dump like this, who do you think is going to hear you? And even if they did, who’d dare to intervene, little beauty?” one of the burly men said in a slightly lecherous tone, punctuating his words with occasional bursts of laughter. “Don’t come any closer.” Wang Yuanyuan was clearly terrified, her voice tinged with tears. Wang Yuanyuan was a migrant worker from another province who had previously worked at a small restaurant in downtown Jiangcheng. But later, the restaurant’s unscrupulous owner took a shine to her; when she refused his advances, he flew into a rage and kicked her out. With nowhere else to turn, Wang Yuanyuan searched everywhere for work, but no one would hire her. When she’d spent every last penny, she took a desperate gamble and headed for the outskirts, thinking someone there might take her in. But as soon as she arrived, she was cornered by two men and forcibly dragged to this abandoned building. She knew exactly what they were up to. Thinking of her hardships, Wang Yuanyuan finally burst into tears, but her crying only made the two burly men laugh even harder. Without saying a word, they began slowly undressing her. One of them couldn’t even wait and tried to pull down her pants. Wang Yuanyuan mustered all her strength to fight back and actually kicked one of the men. The man, who was already impatient, became even more enraged. With a loud “smack,” he slapped Wang Yuanyuan across the face, then continued to pull down her pants. Tears streamed down Wang Yuanyuan’s face, blurring her vision so she could no longer make out who the two men were. Just as she was on the verge of despair and ready to give up, she saw another man appear. With a single kick, he sent the man stripping her clothes flying, and with another kick, the other man was sent flying as well. “Get dressed,” Qin Yu said softly. Wang Yuanyuan blushed with shame and hurriedly pulled on the clothes that the men had left half-undone. “Hey, so there really are some meddlesome fools who aren’t afraid of dying. Do you know who we are? We’re the Fire Scorpion Gang,” one of the men said. Qin Yu couldn’t help but chuckle inwardly, thinking to himself that the Fire Scorpion Gang was truly tenacious. After he’d decimated them like that—even sending their boss to prison with his own hands—there were still some clinging to life and taking pride in it. Qin Yu almost asked them in return if they knew who he was, but after a moment’s thought, he decided against it. “Get lost,” Qin Yu said indifferently. The two men almost laughed. They wondered if this guy was getting too carried away with his “knight in shining armor” fantasy—telling them to get lost. Without another word, they both charged at Qin Yu. Wang Yuanyuan, who had driven over to rescue him, remained unfazed. She’d been worried for a moment, but now she realized her concern was completely unfounded—she watched as Qin Yu kicked one of them flying and lifted the other with just one hand. “You’re just lucky I’m in a good mood and don’t kill people. Otherwise, would you two still be jumping around like this?” After spending so much time with Zhang Xiaofei, Qin Yu felt his trash talk had taken a quantum leap. “Sir, sir, I’m sorry. We’ll get out of here right now.” The one with his throat gripped was barely able to breathe, so he just caved and said. Qin Yu gently tossed him aside. Without a word, the two men took off running as fast as they could. Seeing them go, Qin Yu turned to Wang Yuanyuan, only to find that she had already passed out. “Wow, these must be scam artists. How can they just pass out like that?” Qin Yu exclaimed. Qin Yu waited a moment and called out to her softly a couple of times, but she didn’t wake up. With no other options, he took out his phone and called Zhang Xiaofei. “Yuzi, my car just got fixed. I’m right there—I’ll come pick you up,” Zhang Xiaofei said before Qin Yu even had a chance to speak. “You really have to come pick me up…” Before long, Zhang Xiaofei pulled up in his car at the abandoned building, while Qin Yu stood outside, holding the still-unconscious Wang Yuanyuan. Zhang Xiaofei pulled over and stared blankly at Qin Yu as he got into the car with Wang Yuanyuan in his arms. “Qin Yu!” he exclaimed in disbelief. “Are you even human? You’ve already messed with another young girl this fast.” “Fuck off. This girl was almost raped by two guys from the Fire Scorpion Gang. Thank God I heard them and got here in time,” Qin Yu said. Hearing this, Zhang Xiaofei—in a rare moment of restraint—asked, “What’s her name? She’s fainted from shock. Let’s take her home first.” “I don’t know her name. Oh, and when we get home, make sure to say you saved her. Otherwise, your sister and Lin Xiaorui are going to kill me.” Zhang Xiaofei laughed and said, “Do you really think they’ll believe that? You’re definitely in for a good beating.”
