The Heir to the Seven Killers in the City

Chapter 26: Humiliation

“Second Brother, still no news…” Inside a building in the red-light district, the Second Brother of the Fire Scorpion Gang—his left arm wrapped around a woman—gritted his teeth in rage as he listened to his subordinate’s report. Without thinking, he hurled the teapot across the table, shattering it into pieces. “Useless!” the Second Master roared. In his rage, he must have squeezed her too tightly, for the woman cried out in pain. The Second Master glanced at her; she hurriedly dropped to her knees, tears streaming down her face. The Second Master had no time to toy with women right now, so he shouted, “Get out!” The woman hurriedly ran out. He turned to his subordinate and said, “Go to the homes in Mingshan that haven’t been demolished yet and look for him. That kid got shot—he can’t have gone far.” “Oh, and that area is considered the suburbs, so try not to fire any shots. If this blows up, it won’t be good for anyone.” “What’s your plan? Are we just going to keep driving out like this?” Zhang Xiaofei was driving his Jeep, which was as beat-up as could be. The vehicle kicked up a massive cloud of dust, and as it jolted along, the passengers inside were having a hard time staying seated. “What kind of junk is this? Just drive a little further out and drop me off. I’ll find a place to hide for a while. Once I’ve regained my strength, I won’t let a single one of those guys get away.” Zhang Xiaofei raised an eyebrow. In the past, he would’ve teased Qin Yu endlessly, but now he wouldn’t dare—this “mutated” Qin Yu could probably take him out with one hand. “My sister said she’d come by at 9:30 to change your bandages. If she comes back and doesn’t see you, she’ll probably give me an earful,” Zhang Xiaofei said suddenly as he drove. Qin Yu glanced at Zhang Xiaofei, momentarily at a loss for words. After stammering for a while, he finally said, “I’m just afraid of your little sister. If she starts crying her eyes out at me, I won’t be able to leave.” “That really is just like my little girl…” Mid-conversation, Zhang Xiaofei’s cell phone rang. He answered it and said, “Hello? Spit it out—Fei Ge is driving right now.” “Fei Ge, I just saw a group of people pry open the door to your house. There’s quite a crowd. Should I bring my guys over to deal with them?” the voice on the phone said. Ever since he’d begun practicing the Seven Kills Sutra, Qin Yu’s abilities in every aspect had improved dramatically; it was hard for him not to hear the other person clearly. “Don’t drag your guys into this mess,” Qin Yu said. Zhang Xiaofei shot Qin Yu a surprised look, then turned to the person on the phone and said, “You don’t know shit. Those are my brothers—they came to my place asking Big Brother to do them a favor. With a crew like yours, you’d struggle to collect protection money from a kindergarten, let alone ‘take them on.’ ” “It’s not like that, Fei Ge. The kids at the kindergarten don’t have any money. Even if their parents were rich, I still couldn’t handle it…” the voice on the phone said. Without saying a word, Zhang Xiaofei hung up. Qin Yu, standing nearby, clutched his stomach and couldn’t stop laughing. “A bunch of kids who don’t know a damn thing. If you hadn’t mentioned it, I wouldn’t have let them go anyway. We’re already out here, and there’s nothing of value in the house anyway.” Qin Yu noticed the clock in the car read 9:30 and asked, “Your sister isn’t coming back, is she?” Zhang Xiaofei gave Qin Yu a strange look and said, “Bro, are you out of your mind? What bar closes at 9:30?” “Then how come she applied the ointment at 9:30?” Whoosh! The beat-up Jeep skidded wildly on the bumpy dirt road, kicking up a cloud of dust. “Beep, beep. Hello, the number you’ve dialed…” Zhang Xiaofei’s hand began to tremble slightly. He dialed the number again, but still no one answered. “Fuck!” Zhang Xiaofei yelled, flinging his phone under the seat. Pointing at Qin Yu, he said, “Get the hell out of this car right now.” Qin Yu’s mood wasn’t much better than Zhang Xiaofei’s at that moment. Hearing those words, he felt completely baffled, and with his mind boiling with rage, he snapped, “Are you fucking crazy?” “Why the hell would you go over there and walk right into a trap?” “If I don’t go, are you going to go there alone to get yourself killed? A bunch of little thugs—they think they can kill me? Drive!” Although Zhang Xiaofei was furious, his head was still clear. As expected, Zhang Qiqi had already gone home. Even though those bastards didn’t know about Zhang Qiqi’s relationship with Qin Yu, anyone could guess what would happen when a bunch of lawless thugs saw an attractive young woman. He didn’t care about Qin Yu anymore; he slammed his foot down on the gas pedal and sped toward home. The Fire Scorpion Gang members kicked down the door to Zhang Xiaofei’s house. This was one of the last few homes they were searching; they’d come up empty-handed so far, which had the Fire Scorpion Gang members fuming. Finding the house completely empty only made them angrier, and after searching for a long time, they didn’t find a single thing of value. “Damn, a bunch of penniless losers. Not even worth the effort of kicking down their door,” said the man leading the Fire Scorpion Gang. His surname was Xie—he’d probably forgotten his first name himself by now—and he was a figure of some standing within the gang; he was the one leading the search for Qin Yu this time. “Hey, who are you guys? What are you doing in my house? Where’s my brother? Qin, uh…” “Brother Xie, Brother Xie, there’s a hot chick in here!” The man surnamed Xie had heard the woman’s voice from the inner room, and as soon as one of his henchmen called out to him, he strolled out at a leisurely pace. The moment he laid eyes on Zhang Qiqi, a broad smile spread across his face. Zhang Qiqi was already a sight to behold, and today, dressed as a bunny girl for her night out at the bar, her curves were on full display—enough to make anyone’s mouth water. Mr. Xie was absolutely thrilled. A beauty of her caliber was a rarity even in the red-light district—you wouldn’t find many like her on a whole street, and even if you did, she was far beyond his means. “Oh my, so you know how hard life’s been for Grandpa here? Even Heaven takes pity on me!” Mr. Xie yanked Zhang Qiqi toward him. She tried to resist, but how could she possibly be stronger than them? She was forcibly dragged into the back room. Mr. Xie shut the door and began groping her haphazardly, all the while saying, “Little bunny girl, just give in to me. Come with me and you’ll have wealth and luxury—I guarantee you’ll have a good time!” “Stop it! Help me! I…” Zhang Qiqi screamed “No!” as tears streamed down her face. She flailed her arms, but it felt as if she were hitting a rock—nothing changed. Zhang Qiqi couldn’t quite remember what happened next; she only felt excruciating pain in her lower body, and her body convulsed as she passed out. Zhang Qiqi had never imagined that her first time would be taken from her like this, nor had she ever thought it would be with someone like him. She felt as if it were just a dream—and she hoped it really was just a dream—but the intense pain made her realize that nothing could ever be the same again… In her unconscious state, she had a dream. In it, she was married to Qin Yu, but just as she was happily reciting her wedding vows, Qin Yu was stabbed to death by a man. That man wore a lecherous and excited expression, just like he had moments ago…
