Immortals and Demons Forever

Chapter 46: Chaos (Third Update, Still Asking for Donations)

9 Kujiang, Net, Forever, Free to Read Novels… #bx Su Mu and his three companions fought their way through while running; torches now lined the path leading into the demon beast’s lair. “Mu Ge, how was my performance just now?” Zhong Da chuckled. Su Mu gave him a thumbs-up. Chen Li, who had a huge shoe print on his shirt, chimed in, “It wouldn’t be realistic without a few scrapes and bruises, but those bastards really played dirty!” “Hang in there for now. Our reinforcements will be here soon. Guo Yan is on his way to send word.” The four of them first dashed into a narrow passageway and held their ground there. Although there were many enemies on the other side, only a limited number could charge through. After holding out for a few minutes, the four turned and ran again, finally reaching the demon beast’s lair. Without a word, they quickly crawled through the entrance; defending this entrance would be much easier. Chen Li retrieved the digging tools that had been left inside. Someone tried to squeeze in but was immediately knocked to the ground by Zhong Da’s hammer, his brains spilling out. “You all must be tired of living, huh? Anyone who dares to charge in here, I’ll smash their head to pieces!” Zhong Da was indeed feeling a bit nervous. The body was dragged outside. Amid the chaos of shouts and screams from outside, another intruder broke in, wielding a long stick and jabbing at the entrance with all his might. “Let me handle this!” Su Mu stepped forward, grabbed one end of the stick with both hands, and yanked it violently. The intruder felt an astonishing force pulling on the stick, causing his body to slide forward involuntarily. Terrified, he quickly let go and turned to run. Su Mu wasn’t about to give him a chance. He swung the staff he’d seized right back, driving it straight into the man’s anus. “Ah!” The man let out a piercing scream and scrambled out, rolling and crawling as he went. For a moment, no one dared to rush in recklessly. Just then, Erhua and Tang Kuan arrived. “What’s going on here? What’s going on! Gathering a crowd to cause a disturbance—what kind of behavior is this!” Tang Kuan shouted. “Su Mu, you lot, come out now. These people have been subdued. Since someone has died, the Supervision Team will decide later how to handle the matter.” Sure enough, the shouting and cursing from outside stopped. Tang Kuan really was a drama queen—even at a time like this, he was still putting on a show to try to trick them into coming out. Su Mu couldn’t help but laugh, then cursed furiously, “Fuck off! Grandpa’s not falling for your tricks!” Tang Kuan was instantly enraged. “How dare you! Murder demands a life in return—the four of you won’t get away with this!” “Come on, then! Your Uncle Da is right here—come on in if you’ve got the guts!” Zhong Da roared. “It must have been you who secretly instructed that beast Guo Yan to spike the wine. Could it be that these people were in cahoots with you all along?” The truth was finally revealed. Erhu stopped pretending and burst out laughing. “You’re just now coming to your senses? It’s too late! Did you think you’d be safe hiding in there? How naive. You should’ve dug a bigger entrance!” At a single command, sledgehammers began swinging at the wall, and shovels sprang into action. This tactic proved effective. Once the entrance was widened—and a section of the wall itself was even breached—they had no defensive position left to hold. Su Mu, wielding his long staff, was able to harass the enemy from time to time as long as they didn’t come inside. But his efforts had limited effect. Rocks kept crumbling, and Erhu kept urging them on, “Dig faster!” The clanging of chisels, axes, and saws grew louder, and the sound of falling earth echoed constantly. Su Mu and the other three inside began to grow anxious. “Why haven’t our men arrived yet?” Chen Li asked in a low voice. “They didn’t get cold feet at the last minute, did they? If they don’t show up, they’re really going to screw us over!” “Don’t panic. Let’s wait a little longer—it might take some time to mobilize them,” Su Mu said, still placing his trust in them. “What if no one really shows up?” asked Black Hand. Zhong Da spat on the ground. “Do you even need to ask? One word: fight! Kill one and we break even; kill two and we come out ahead. I’m not afraid of them!” As earth and rocks rained down, the entrance grew noticeably wider. “Charge in!” Erhu couldn’t wait any longer; while some continued digging here, they didn’t let either task fall behind. Five or six men surged in at once. With a clang and a clatter, their shovels and sledgehammers collided, sending sparks flying. Three more of the men who had charged in fell, and their bodies were dragged back out. Erhu was thoroughly enraged. “I’ll take it!” He led the charge himself, instantly boosting morale, and several others immediately followed. As the two sides clashed, Black Hand was wounded, while two of the enemy were killed—only to be immediately replaced by fresh reinforcements. The space was too narrow for Su Mu to unleash his full strength, and with the enemy pouring in endlessly, they could no longer hold their ground. “Retreat! Retreat quickly!” Erhu led the charge, bursting into loud laughter. “You’re like a turtle in a jar! Where do you think you’re going to run? Die now! Su Mu, I’m going to smash your head to smithereens!” Just as he was laughing, a commotion suddenly broke out outside. “Charge!” “Dare to bully Mu Ge? You’ve really had enough of living!” “Take them down!” Tang Kuan rushed in frantically. “Brother Hu, it’s that group from the Heavy Industry Zone—they’re acting like madmen and have started fighting our guys!” “What’s going on? How did they end up helping Su Mu?” “No idea!” Outside, a fierce battle erupted instantly, with screams rising one after another—this wasn’t just a brawl, it was a bloodbath! “Forget it—let’s take care of Su Mu’s crew first! They’re already running out of steam.” Erhu gave a shout, summoning over a dozen men, and they immediately charged forward. Hearing the commotion outside, Su Mu and his group felt more confident and decided not to run anymore. “Mu Ge, our reinforcements are here!” “They’re finally here—just in time. It’s about time we let off some steam.” Su Mu looked at the group charging toward them. “I’ll take Erhu and Tang Kuan; you guys can pick the rest.” “Four each? That’s a bit stingy,” Chen Li grinned. “No need to argue—whoever strikes first gets them.” Erhu charged to within five meters of them. Seeing the fighting stances Su Mu and his men had assumed, he snorted, “Why aren’t you running anymore? I don’t know how you managed to bribe that bunch from the Heavy Industry Zone, but let me tell you—no one can save you!” “You’ve said exactly what I was going to say. Let’s settle this with our actions.” “You’re still putting on a show when death is staring you in the face? How ridiculous!” Tang Kuan sneered. “I wonder who’s the one facing death without even realizing it. How pitiful, how pitiful.”
