My Superpower Is Kind of Cute

Chapter 50: Let the Fight Begin

Qi Yun nodded repeatedly. “Sure, sure! Are we going to beat someone up? I’ll try my hardest.” “Let’s head over right now, then.” Just outside Yadou Village was a country lane—the very spot where my phone had been snatched last time. Beyond the lane lay the “town”—though “town” was a bit of a stretch; it was really just an urban-rural fringe area consisting of two connected streets, the kind you could walk around twice in half an hour. It was almost lunchtime, and since school hadn’t let out yet, the streets on both sides were pretty deserted. I hadn’t walked more than a few steps when I heard a familiar voice. Looking in the direction of the sound, sure enough, there was that guy with the golden, shaggy hair named A Qu. He and his crew had split into two groups, sitting noisily on the street outside the restaurant, drinking and eating. The owner of the restaurant looked utterly exasperated—apart from them, there wasn’t a single other customer in sight. Even passersby, seeing the scene, shot them disgusted glances and hurriedly took detours to avoid them. “Should we move now?” Qi Yun was itching to get started. I glanced around briefly, then sneaked into a public restroom tucked away in a secluded corner nearby. Qi Yun didn’t waste any words with me; he decisively merged with me. In an instant, my appearance underwent a dramatic transformation. After double-checking that everything was ready, I pushed open the restroom door and stepped back out. I felt like Superman transforming,The only difference was that he’d been hiding in a phone booth to change his underwear, while I’d been possessed by a ghost in the restroom. I acted as if nothing had happened and walked over to sit near them. Even from across the table, I could hear their conversation. “Bro, when are we going back to collect the money? That Chen Sheng is a real cash cow.” Ah Qu gulped down beer, let out a satisfied belch, and laughed as he scolded, “Getting money is easy. We’ll go in a couple of days. But first, let’s hit the internet café, then go sing at the KTV tonight. We’ll deal with it after we’ve had our fun.” As soon as he said this, he was met with enthusiastic applause and cheers from his underlings. A young man with long, shit-green hair sitting next to him, not content with the status quo, was openly stirring up trouble and eagerly offered a suggestion: “I think we could really take advantage of Chen Sheng’s son.” Upon hearing this, A Qu nodded in agreement. “Of course. There’ll be plenty of opportunities later. Next time he comes around, we’ll just grab him, beat him up, and lock him up for two or three days. I don’t believe we won’t be able to squeeze a few ten thousand out of him that way.” The others chimed in one after another, their voices brimming with mockery, “Exactly, exactly—that’s the plan.” Hearing this made me even more upset. So they’d set their sights on my grandpa. I’d originally planned to just teach them a lesson and let it go, but now I’d changed my mind—I was determined to make them see some blood and nip these dangerous ideas in the bud. Qi Yun knew exactly what I was thinking and said to me in my mind, “Mengmeng, don’t worry—they’re all screwed.” “This is a society governed by the rule of law—calm down, calm down.” I suddenly remembered that Qi Yun could now read my mind, and I was actually a little afraid he might do something out of line using my body later on. That kind of thing wouldn’t be as easy to resolve as coming out of the closet. When the restaurant owner saw that I still dared to come over and sit next to them, he was grinning from ear to ear and scurried over, relentlessly recommending their stir-fried noodles with sea cucumber. I glanced at the menu on the wall, ordered the cheapest dish—stir-fried soft rice—and easily shooed the guy away. Then I got up again and walked over to them. Those people were still heatedly discussing the plan to kidnap me. They didn’t pay much attention to my current appearance; they just glanced up at me briefly before continuing their discussion. I stood right in front of them. It took two or three seconds before they gradually fell silent, watching my every move with hostile expressions. After downing a glass of liquor, A Qu—judging by his flushed face, he was already a bit tipsy—shouted arrogantly, “Get the hell out of my way, you ugly monster. Just looking at you makes me want to puke.” The people around him immediately burst into laughter in agreement. With a smile on my face, I pointed at A Qu and said to the others, “I really admire your boss. I’d like to have a few words with him in private.” “I think you’re just looking for a fight,” the guy with green hair said, jumping to his feet and blocking my path. Relying on his numbers, he snarled, “Do you think you can just see him whenever you want?” “Right, right, right.” I pretended to have a sudden realization, slapped my forehead, pulled a few hundred-yuan bills out of my wallet, and shoved them into the green-haired guy’s hand, looking sincere as I said, “Cut me some slack—I really just want to say a couple of words.” Seeing that I’d actually offered him money, the green-haired guy’s expression softened considerably. He turned to look at A Qu, seeking his opinion. As soon as A Qu heard that I admired him, his vanity got the better of him, and he looked a bit smug. He waved his hand, signaling them to step aside and let me through. I walked past the crowd and stood before him. A Qu glanced at me and snorted, “Spit it out.” “I’ll get to it, I’ll get to it.” I leaned close to his ear and whispered in a voice only he could hear, “That hat on your head is so green.” “What?” A Qu looked puzzled and didn’t quite catch on at first. I added softly, “Your wife used Flash to block that ultimate for me, saying a child can’t be without a father.” By now, A Qu realized I’d definitely come here to pick a fight. He slammed his fist on the table, furious beyond measure. “You fucking…” Before he could finish his sentence, I picked up a chopstick from the table and drove it straight into the back of his hand—the one resting on the table—securing his hand firmly to the wooden surface. Blood quickly spread across the back of his injured hand. “Aaah—” A Qu was completely sobered up by then; the pain from the back of his hand made him scream at the top of his lungs. “Sir, here’s our signature stir-fried white rice—oh my god.” The restaurant owner came out of the kitchen carrying a bowl of stir-fried white rice. When he saw me stabbing Ah Qu with the chopstick, he shuddered so hard he nearly dropped the bowl on the floor. Out of reflex, he scrambled back into the kitchen, slammed the door shut, and watched the circus through the glass. “Are you out of your mind?” The others were all stunned, momentarily at a loss for how to react. After hurling a few curses, they finally remembered to swing their liquor bottles at me. Qi Yun struck first, raising a wooden stool and smashing it down on each of their heads one by one. After hitting three or four of them—the stool’s legs now drenched in bright red blood—everyone he struck fell to the ground, unable to get up. “Don’t kill anyone,” I muttered to Qi Yun, watching the scene unfold with bated breath. Qi Yun replied nonchalantly, “Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing.” He tossed the chair aside and charged forward. There was a loud “thud.” Just then, I felt a tickling sensation on my head. I flicked my hair with my hand and saw my palm covered in shards of broken glass from the liquor bottle—a chill ran down my spine. “Am I gonna die, for f***’s sake?” “No way. I activated my spiritual power the moment I walked in—the Black Tortoise Protection. Look, are you bleeding? It doesn’t even hurt.” “You’re right.” After hearing Qi Yun’s explanation, I finally relaxed. This wasn’t a normal brawl at all—it was my personal show. Now that I knew that, I wasn’t in a hurry to strike. I’d just watch and see how desperate they’d get. “Bang, bang”—two more loud thuds. Two more wine bottles shattered into pieces above my head. Unfazed, I flicked my short, silky hair aside and landed a hard blow to the stomachs of the three men in front of me. Then, I slowly turned to face the green-haired guy who’d been attacking me with wine bottles one after another—he was the only one left standing on the scene. “Spiritual energy really is handy,” I mused quietly to myself. “Come to think of it, Qi Yun, using spiritual energy even against ordinary people—that’s just shameless.”
