My Superpower Is Kind of Cute

Chapter 20: I’m Gonna Die

“You said it yourself,” Qi Yun replied. Seeing that I’d spoken up, he stopped beating around the bush. With a hint of excitement in his voice, he slid back into me with a “whoosh.” Seeing him climb on top of me, I didn’t hesitate—I leaped decisively out of the thicket. The man in black had just pulled out his tool when everything went blurry before his eyes. Seeing me suddenly leap into his field of vision, his massive frame jolted; he forced himself to hold back the urge to pee, frantically pulled up his pants, and backed away in a panic. Another man in black, known as Old Xiao, had originally been facing away from us. Hearing the commotion behind him, he turned around with a look of annoyance and said, “It’s just a quick pee—you sure make a big deal out of it. Your bladder isn’t that big, but you sure make a lot of noise.” But the moment he finished speaking and saw me, he, too, was stunned. The man in black standing in front of me looked at the figure behind him with a look of aggrieved helplessness and timidly asked, “Lao Xiao… what should we do?” “How did you end up peeing out a person?” Old Xiao’s expression was less than pleasant; clearly, I’d made such a deep impression on him that day that he still hadn’t recovered from it. I brushed the dirt off my clothes and glared at them. “If I hadn’t shown up just in time, were you really planning to let that piss drip all over my head?” “I… I didn’t know you were here,” the man in black said, his face a mix of fear—half from being startled by me, half from the urge to pee—as he clenched his legs and squirmed like a woman. Old Xiao took a deep breath and stared at me, asking, “What are you doing here?” “Can’t I just sleep here?” “Sure.” Old Xiao knew I was bullshitting, but he didn’t argue. He nodded and started to back away. “Then we won’t disturb your sleep.” “Hold on.” I called out to them, “Then what are you two doing here?” Old Xiao stopped in his tracks and looked at me. “To be honest, we’re here for a spring outing.” “Who are you trying to fool?” I said dismissively. “Wearing suits for a spring outing in the middle of the day? Can’t you just be honest?” “Believe it or not,” Old Xiao’s expression darkened when he saw I had no intention of letting them go. “Are you really going to start a fight right here?” I scratched my head, momentarily at a loss for words. To be honest, I didn’t want to fight. If they’d just left earlier, none of this trouble would have happened. But now that I’d transformed, I’d feel like I was letting myself down if I didn’t stretch my legs a bit… “You guys keep chatting. I’m gonna take a leak—I really can’t hold it in any longer, gentlemen.” Another man in black, his face flushed, spoke timidly when he saw us standing there motionless. He then immediately staggered over to another patch of grass, and soon the sound of trickling water could be heard. “Mengmeng, I get it—just throw a couple of punches.” Qi Yun knew what I was thinking and, not one to shy away from a fight, replied in my mind, “You’ve got nothing to lose anyway.” “You’re right. In this godforsaken wilderness, let’s teach them a lesson for showing off and then running off.” Without realizing it, I found myself agreeing with him in my mind—and now that I thought about it, it actually sounded kind of thrilling. Seeing that I agreed, Qi Yun wasted no time and lunged at Old Xiao to start throwing punches. When Old Xiao saw I was actually going to fight, he was startled at first, then immediately conjured up that rope I’d seen before and tried to loop it around me. I knew exactly how lousy his skills were, so I didn’t even bother dodging. I just charged right at him with a punch, and Old Xiao was sent face-first into the dirt. At the same time, the rope flew toward me. Qi Yun extended my hand—which was enveloped in a surge of azure spiritual energy—and with a casual flick, the rope instantly wilted to the ground, lifeless. Lao Xiao struggled to his feet and, glaring at the man in black not far away, roared in a fit of rage, “Erbing, how long are you going to take to take a piss? If you don’t get over here soon, I’m going to get my ass kicked.” “I’m coming, I’m coming!” The man in black named Erbing didn’t even have time to straighten his clothes; he rushed over in a panic, grumbling as he ran, “Why didn’t you give me a heads-up?” At the same time, his hands were busy conjuring his weapon. When I saw it, I almost burst out laughing—it was actually a rolling pin. Qi Yun watched with some curiosity as Erbing ran over from the bushes on the other side, swaying and stumbling as he clutched the rolling pin. In the blink of an eye, Erbing was right in front of me. Compared to Lao Xiao’s fighting style, Erbing’s was much more one-dimensional—he just closed his eyes and started wildly swinging that rolling pin. I took a step back without giving anything away and easily dodged his haphazard attacks, while he kept flailing about aimlessly. “Mengmeng, no offense, but the spiritualists around here really are…” Qi Yun looked at Erbing with a puzzled expression and let out a sigh. Watching the scene unfold, I felt a bit awkward too. I really didn’t know how to respond, so I could only stand there silently with him, watching Erbing’s antics. “Open your dog eyes!” Lao Xiao caught his breath and came toward me with the rope in hand. Upon hearing this, Erbing also opened his eyes, and the two of them closed in on me from the front and back, pressing their advance step by step. Seeing this, Qi Yun still didn’t seem too concerned. Controlling my body, he deftly dodged Erbing’s attack and moved behind him, landing a punch right on his lower back. Erbing cried out in pain and was sent flying, landing squarely on top of Lao Xiao, who was just about to strike. The two of them fell to the ground together. Qi Yun slowly walked up to them and asked with a hint of contempt, “Want to keep going?” “No, no.” The two had been beaten into submission and sat obediently on the ground, shaking their heads repeatedly. I pretended to straighten my clothes. “If only you’d done this from the start. You had to start a fight. I just can’t stand your stinking bad habits.” Lao Xiao’s expression flickered between anger and resignation as he gritted his teeth and said, “A man may be killed, but he must not be disgraced.” Erbing, standing nearby, remained silent. I was slightly taken aback—I hadn’t expected them to have such backbone, especially since I hadn’t even asked them anything yet. “What do you think? Their combat prowess might be a bit lacking, but they’re not cowards,” I thought to myself, communicating with Qi Yun. “Yeah, that’s true.” For once, Qi Yun actually agreed with me. “To say something like that to a powerhouse like me—let them go.” “Damn it, have some dignity…” While I was talking to Qi Yun, I’d completely left the two of them hanging there. Lao Xiao and Er Bing saw me standing there expressionless and unresponsive. They exchanged glances, thinking I was hatching some devious plan to torment them. Lao Xiao quickly spoke up, “But if you let me go, I’ll tell you why I’m here.” “Huh?” Now it was my turn and Qi Yun’s to be completely baffled. I’d just asked that offhand, and I never expected him to take it seriously. Man, that about-face was way too sudden… I really hadn’t told them anything yet. “Mengmeng, what do you think?” Qi Yun had also regained his composure and wasn’t particularly interested in the purpose of their trip, so he left the decision up to me. I glared at them both fiercely. “Speak up. Tell me everything, from start to finish.” They’d actually made me lose face in front of my friends from another world—now I had to make them explain themselves thoroughly. The two exchanged another glance, stood up, and began gesturing wildly to explain to me at the same time. My head was spinning from it all, so I waved my hand to signal them to shut up and speak one at a time. But just then, instead of speaking, they both dropped to the ground on either side of me in perfect unison. Just as they hit the ground, I felt a dark shadow swoop toward me, aiming straight for my chest. “Oh no!” Qi Yun cried out in alarm. This time, he’d let his guard down and had absolutely no time to react. As for me, it was the first time I’d ever felt so close to death.
