Apocalyptic Crazy Kitty

Chapter 48: The 87th Shennu Squad!

The man in the lead had a scar across his eye—running from the corner of his eye down to the tip of his nose—giving him an extremely grim appearance. He was none other than Wang Sen, captain of Squad 87. Everything that had just happened left him shocked and bewildered, along with a vague sense of unease. Their primary mission on this mission was to recover energy sources from the ruins of Weicheng; their secondary mission was to track down several Evolvers who had escaped from the ruins of Yancheng. But the events that unfolded along the way were utterly baffling. First, they made a trip to the ruins of Yancheng but lost track of those Evolvers; then, after searching along the way, they discovered that those Evolvers might have made their way to the ruins of Weicheng. Immediately afterward, a zombie horde erupted. Equipped with optical camouflage combat suits still in the experimental phase—which allowed them to achieve a certain degree of visual invisibility through optical effects and even mask their scent—they managed to sneak into the Weicheng ruins just before the horde arrived. After a long wait until nightfall, and with immense effort—at the cost of more than half their team’s lives—they finally reached the location of the energy node, only to receive a signal that a comrade had fallen. A straggler—a powerful Level 5 Evolver—had somehow perished within the ruins of Weicheng, and in his final communication, he’d mentioned discovering another energy node… Then they arrived at Weicheng Middle School, the location of this energy source, only to find, to their dismay, that the metal cube was simply too heavy. Even as powerful Evolvers, they couldn’t budge the cube an inch, let alone pack it up and carry it away. Just as they were at a loss, a cat and a dog suddenly appeared at the edge of the meteor crater. Although the cat and dog appeared to be ordinary animals—not corpse beasts—Wang Sen still ordered his men to activate their optical camouflage and temporarily hide in the darkness at the bottom of the crater. Then something astonishing happened! The cube—which they had been unable to lift or even budge an inch despite their combined efforts—was actually lifted by the cat! And then the dog lifted it as well!
