Armed with claws, instincts, and an ever-evolving body, Zuo Chen begins his journey through the ruins of civilization. To survive, recover what he has lost, and uncover the truth behind the outbreak, this unlikely feline survivor must keep evolving.
Chapter 29: Come Suck Me
“So cute… sniff sniff…” Seeing the dazzling rainbow cat before him, Erzi’s eyes went wide. He stretched out both hands as he walked toward Zuo Chen, muttering to himself and even pouting his lips: “Great King, I’d die for you!” Meanwhile, Bai Biao and the others standing nearby all had stars in their eyes as they murmured to themselves and walked toward Zuo Chen. Judging by their expressions, they had been completely mesmerized by the rainbow cat’s cuteness. Zuo Chen rolled his eyes. He’d only just transformed into his rainbow form—he hadn’t even used his mental power to guide it yet. If he combined the Rainbow Zombie’s hypnotic ability with the Skeleton Zombie’s mind control—using both at the same time—who knows what kind of effect that would have? But just then, the crowd’s hands were about to touch him. Zuo Chen immediately retracted his mutated ability; the glow on his body vanished, and his fur color shifted from the constantly changing rainbow back to that of an Orange Cat. He slapped Erzi across the face, sending him flying, and bellowed, “Wake the hell up, all of you!” Erzi let out a bloodcurdling scream and scrambled to his feet in a disheveled state, though the little stars in his eyes hadn’t quite faded away yet. The others had just regained their composure as well. The Orange Cat stood there with his hands on his hips, fuming, “We’re all grown men here—kiss my ass, meow!” “Waaah, Great King, I was wrong! I’m so sorry!” Erzi apologized repeatedly, realizing he hadn’t been able to resist the hypnotic spell. But seriously, isn’t he just super cute?! He’s absolutely adorable! Seeing that the lecherous glint in his subordinates’ eyes hadn’t completely faded, Zuo Chen cursed inwardly. “What a bunch of perverts! What’s going on here?!” Looks like this “Rainbow Hypnosis” move is an indiscriminate attack—I can’t just use it recklessly… “From now on, all of you must wear sunglasses. No one is allowed to take them off without orders!” Zuo Chen said again, smashing the rainbow zombie’s head with a single swipe of his claw. “Yes, sir!” The group snapped to attention, suddenly remembering that the figure before them was the ferocious Beast King, not some cute rainbow cat. They quickly put their sunglasses back on, not daring to take them off again. Zuo Chen stood up straight, stretched, and looked down toward the bottom of the meteor crater. The rainbow hypnosis experiment could wait; the immediate priority was to find the system fragments as quickly as possible and see what they could assemble from them. Since this area used to be the Rainbow Zombie’s territory, there wasn’t a single zombie in sight—clearly, every living creature capable of running had been lured and killed by the Rainbow Zombie. This actually made it easier to search for the system fragments. The meteor crater was a hundred meters in diameter and only a dozen or so meters deep, its interior filled with a jumble of rocks. “Go into the meteor crater and look for a piece of metal—about the size of your palm. It doesn’t matter what kind it is; just call me over as soon as you find something like that,” Zuo Chen said. For now, they had no choice but to resort to the old-fashioned way. The system kept emitting a buzzing sound indicating that the fragment was nearby, but it was hard to pinpoint its exact location. Upon receiving the order, the group immediately rushed into the crater and began searching thoroughly. “Chief, there’s a piece of metal here!” Bai Biao shouted first. Zuo Chen darted over to take a look, then shook his head—it was just a piece of ordinary scrap metal. “Big Boss, there’s another metal fragment here!” Erzi shouted as he lifted a piece of scrap metal the size of a wagon wheel. Zuo Chen didn’t even bother to respond. In the blink of an eye, they had been searching for over ten minutes and had found a whole pile of similar items, but none of them were fragments of the system. Zuo Chen, however, was quite patient; after all, the object was right here, and as long as they searched slowly, they would naturally find it. Just then, the sound of a craft cutting through the air suddenly echoed from the sky. A streamlined aircraft appeared mid-air and hovered above the meteor crater! A fierce wind whipped up! This aircraft wasn’t a propeller-driven helicopter; it appeared to be a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) craft instead, coated with a layer of black stealth paint and looking extremely advanced. Prominently displayed on its fuselage was the emblem of a person kneeling on the ground. What kind of aircraft is this? Why have I never seen it before, and why is it here? Vertical takeoff and landing—it does look a bit like the Western F-35B… But even the vertical takeoff and landing fighters I’d heard of would have a hard time hovering in mid-air. Several people immediately spread out, forming a loose formation at the edge of the meteor crater. They all drew the rifles and submachine guns from their backs and watched the sky warily. Just as everyone was puzzling over this, a door opened in the aircraft’s cabin. Ten figures clad in black, form-fitting combat suits, wearing helmets, and wielding assault rifles leaped directly from the cockpit—more than ten meters above—landing heavily in the crater and leaving deep footprints in the ground! Evolvers! An ordinary person jumping from that height would have been crushed to death on impact. The moment these figures touched down, the aircraft still hovering in the air immediately closed its hatch and flew away, seemingly confident in their safety. Ten automatic rifles were already trained on Erzi and his group. The leader asked in an extremely arrogant tone, “Who are you?” “Who are you? Are you sneaking around in the shadows, afraid to show your faces?” Bai Biao snorted coldly. “You have no right to know my identity,” the leader said with disdain, simultaneously opening the visor of his helmet to reveal a pair of cold, triangular eyes—behind which stood a muscular man in his thirties. Several others around him also opened their helmet visors, revealing pairs of cold, menacing eyes. The group of ten—seven men and three women—were all strikingly handsome, yet radiated a murderous aura. “Mortals, you have ten seconds to reveal your origins. Otherwise, you’ll be killed on the spot,” the man with the triangular eyes said grimly. “Don’t think your guns will do you any good—in the eyes of us Evolved, they’re nothing more than a bunch of toys.” Pretty cocky! Erzi and the others narrowed their eyes, their own murderous intent flaring up. Having fought their way through mountains of corpses and seas of blood, they certainly wouldn’t be intimidated. “Captain, there’s an Orange Cat over there—it’s so cute! I want to take it back to base,” a female warrior with an oval face suddenly said. She looked to be only eighteen or nineteen, but her figure was stunning. Her tight black combat suit could barely contain her voluptuous curves, and her long legs rivaled those of so-called international supermodels. Paired with her innocent looks, she was even more eye-catching. “No way,” the captain with the slanted eyes flatly refused. “Who knows if creatures in the wild have mutated? Have you forgotten the rules set by the Commander-in-Chief?” “But it’s really so cute. It’s hard to find such a chubby kitty these days…” the female soldier said, suddenly breaking into a smile. “I’ve got it—I’ll catch it, skin it, and make a stuffed animal out of it so I can cuddle it while I sleep.” Her words sent a chill down one’s spine, yet her expression remained innocent. “Enough. Stop wasting time with them. Let’s wipe them out and find the energy source—the Commander is waiting for our report,” said another burly man. “Ten seconds are up. Ready…” The moment the captain with the triangular eyes gave the order, they all prepared to pull the trigger at once! Just then, a burst of multicolored light suddenly blossomed before their eyes, enveloping their vision in a dazzling rainbow! The plump Orange Cat, which had seemed perfectly ordinary just moments ago, now had fur that shimmered with flowing rainbow hues. As the rainbow light blazed, the entire cat seemed to transform into an angel! Zuo Chen stood on his hind legs, his front paws clasped together to rest his chin, his star-like eyes wide open as he softly meowed, “Meow, meow…” To the group of warriors standing before him, that sound was like music from heaven, leaving their minds blank—all they could see was the dazzling, adorable rainbow cat right in front of them! So adorable! “Clunk… clunk…” Their guns fell to the ground. All ten of these fully armed soldiers wore expressions of utter adoration, reaching out with both hands to grasp at thin air as they muttered to themselves, walking toward the source of the rainbow as if in a trance. “Cute… so cute…” “An angel… This must be an angel…” “Let… let me kiss it… just once…” At that moment, a gentle voice echoed endlessly in their minds: “Come on, hurry up and give this cute little kitten a hug. Come suck on me. Experience true bliss…” This voice was the attack Zuo Chen had launched after releasing his psychic force field. By now, he had realized that the psychic force field wasn’t merely a deterrent—it could also manipulate the opponent’s emotions. Combined with the Hypnotic Rainbow, it was practically a surefire kill. However, although all of them had been hypnotized by the rainbow light, the man with the triangular eyes was moving the slowest. As he walked, his whole body trembled, his face was pale, and sweat kept streaming down his forehead—it seemed he was able to resist the hypnosis to some extent. He also seemed to be muttering something under his breath. Zuo Chen pricked up his ears and heard the man with the triangular eyes mutter unconsciously, “Kitties… are so cute… puppies… are even cuter…” Damn it, so he’s a dog person after all!
