Apocalyptic Crazy Kitty

Chapter 4: Alcohol Gives the Panda Guts

Cats Just Have to Crawl into Cardboard Boxes! In the face of a cardboard box, everything else pales in comparison! The moment he crouched inside the cardboard box, Zuo Chen instantly sensed the obsession of an Orange Cat. His human mind took over once again, and Zuo Chen crawled out of the box with a look of helplessness on his face. Li Jianguo, oh Li Jianguo—it looks like our souls have fused, brother… Only then did he realize that his mind was filled with memories from Li Jianguo’s perspective. From being a house cat, to becoming a stray after the biohazard outbreak, to struggling to survive in a world overrun by zombies, and finally, that moment when he fell into the experimental chamber. Clearly, the fusion of their bodies had also fused their memories. However, a cat’s consciousness was clearly no match for that of a human, so Zuo Chen remained in control of this body—though he naturally exhibited many feline traits. So what should I call myself now? Zuo Jianguo? Li Chen? Should I go find Bingbing? Never mind, I’ll just stick with Zuo Chen… The Orange Cat rolled its eyes and walked over to the canned food and instant noodles. Canned peaches! He couldn’t even remember how many years it had been since he last ate fruit. He extended a bony paw and pried open the can as if it were a can opener. His chubby cat face squeezed right into the glass jar, and he stuck out his tongue to start eating straight from it, purring contentedly as he went. “Mmm, mmm! (So good, so good)!” Although this can of yellow peaches was probably past its expiration date, the taste hadn’t changed at all—the syrup was still sweet and tangy. After eating the last slice of yellow peach and drinking every last drop of syrup from the can, Zuo Chen contentedly washed his syrup-covered face with his paw. Then he stuck out his tongue and licked the syrup off his paws. It had been far too long since he’d tasted sugar. He opened the can of beef, using his bony paw to pick up the fragrant, glossy chunks of beef one by one until he’d finished them all—only then did Zuo Chen let out a satisfied purr. Eating these things temporarily eased his hunger, but they were far from enough. Even if he included the food in his backpack Although he was in the dark, his feline night vision allowed him to easily see his surroundings. With his soft paw pads pressed against the ground, he could even hear the shuffling footsteps of the zombies, enabling him to avoid those in his path. Soon, he found several packs of cookies, a box of chocolate, a bag of pickled plums, a few bags of beef jerky, and dried tofu. Relying on his memory, Zuo Chen quickly made his way to the canned luncheon meat he’d spotted earlier. There were exactly five cans of corned beef here, along with some other canned fish, ham, and so on. Gulping his saliva, Zuo Chen quickly stuffed his backpack full. At that moment, he couldn’t help but wish the backpack were bigger—it just couldn’t hold enough. But if it were too big, it would be a real hassle to carry. Damn it, never mind—he’d better get out of here and eat this meal first. After packing the cans, Zuo Chen carefully crept over to the produce section and stopped under an orange tree. The orange tree was only a little over a meter tall, growing out of the belly of a massive corpse, with a few small oranges sparsely clustered on its branches. He never would have thought that in just three or four years, an orange tree would have grown here. It’s been so long since I’ve had an orange… Drooling, Zuo Chen stood on the corpse’s leg and reached up with his paw to pick an orange. Suddenly, there was a tremor beneath his feet. The “corpse,” which had been dead, suddenly opened its eyes. Its arms and legs lifted, then split into clusters of tentacles that coiled around Zuo Chen!
